The public hold different perceptions of political parties largely due to individuals’ different social characteristics and political views. By using both quantitative and qualitative dataset, this thesis aims to study the formation and effect of party image. It first examines how an individual develops his/her perception of a political party. It further explores how party image which an individual holds affect his/her political trust.   The findings include: there is no single image of a political party among people’s minds. However, people who have different social characteristics and political attitudes contribute to the formation of key party image. These factors include political cohort, level of education, party identification, national identity, and media exposure. Moreover, a personal life experiences affects his/her formation of party image as well. Lastly, this thesis confirms that people who hold a corruption perception of a party are significantly more likely to have lower level of political trust. 林瓊珠 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 182 zh-TW
