He has composed many pieces for kinds of percussion instruments and genres. Some of the pieces even won prizes in the international contests of composition, including his multiple percussion solo Canned Heat. The piece won the first prize in 2002 PAS Percussive Arts Society Composition Contest, and soon became the repertoire that many players often used. This thesis has five chapters. The first chapter is the motive, method, range, limit and the literature reviews about the research. The second chapter introduces the composer Eckhard Kopetzki, including his biography and technique of composing. The third chapter will focus on the analysis of Canned Heat, and so on in the forth with the interpretation. The last chapter is the conclusion of the thesis.
