Being a composer, Yangqin musician, director and educator in one, he has devoted his life to popularizing Chinese music. With Yangqin music production, he has had many solo and concerto works. Because of his career path he knows Yangqin’s timbre technique very well. And because of that, he can give priority to the most important aspects of Yangqin and creative lots of unique style Yangqin work. He is able to feature the most important aspects of Yangqin with his works, which also helps to make his works unique.
To analyze and interpret Yangqin songs “Yao Si Capriccioso” (2003), “Love of Flowers” (2004), “The Butterfly” (2006), by Chung Chuan-Po , we can then understand what the composer wants to tell as well as his aesthetic. Every song written by Chung has the Melody Occupied an important role. These pieces are performed by using some special techniques, such as rotate back words the Yangqin bamboo stick to play the melody, plug strings, tremolo, crossing octave, rhythm changes, showing the intrinsic properties of music, giving multi-layered sound, expressive works to improve the dulcimer, and expressing the personal characteristics of creative works. And he has also advanced a new theory “chromatic scale” when playing Yangqin. Through the analysis of his works and writing method, which benefit the performance of Yangqin music, will enable people to appreciate not only Chung's works and Yangqin music.
