| Summary: | 碩士 === 中國文化大學 === 建築及都市設計學系 === 104 === Hoi An ancient town is a special traditional trading port Vietnam that has been kept in status quo. Hoi An Ancient Town is famous for its exceptional outstanding architecture, attached to the appearance and development of inhabitant community in a port town. In addition, intangible culture has been preserved annually in Hoi An, such as: habit, custom, religion, etc. This Town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in December 1999. After the achievement of World Heritage site status in 1999, condition of living of Hoi An has been changing result from turning agricultural economy into a tourism-oriented economy. A conflict between the conservation of heritage and the changes of living in Hoi An has shaped rapidly. That is argument about sustainable conservation. Basing on the analysis of problems in Hoi An and the surveys of changes of this ancient town, this thesis discuss about the issues below:
- Appreciation of the values of Hoi An ancient town;
- Appreciation of process of conservation in Hoi An ancient town;
- Analysis of utilization of heritage buildings;
- Analysis the interaction between the conservation of heritage and the living of people and the interaction between the development of tourism and the values of heritage in Hoi An.
