Summary: | 碩士 === 國立虎尾科技大學 === 機械設計工程系碩士班 === 104 === People with mobility-challenges can navigate urban spaces in short distances by using privately devices, including cranes, crutches, wheelchairs, because they are usually cost-effective. However facilities for long-distance traveling are usually comparatively expensive and unfeasible to maintain for an individual or a family, and most city/county government offices can provide limited resources, leaving a significant unmet need/gap between patients/injurers and care-providers.
This research would like to solve this problem by providing a commercial product because the hardware can be easily duplicated for patients and injurers, as well as their families. We follow the Design Thinking process originally proposed by IDEO Inc. and Stanford University, and figure out the potential user’s needs, their criterion and caregiver’s considerations including doctors and therapists. We communicate with the stakeholders with the conceptual design, realize a detail design and have a series of engineering analysis toward the simulation model. We implement another series of prototypes and take engineering tests against our safety assumptions, and finally conducted a clinical trial on the final prototype under monitoring of IRB requirements.
