The stability of operation for reforming process of oil refinery has high impact on the supply of gasoline. This study focuses on causes and problems of the fire heater tube leaked in hydrogen desulfurization unit of the reforming process. After analyzing the process, searching the operating data and collecting the process design information, 13 process factors that have effects on the reforming process were generalized. Then, the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) was used to clarify the important and causal relationships among these factors.
From the result of degree of central role (D+R) and degree of causal role (D-R) of these factors, we found that ‘heat exchanger fouling or surface area not enough’, ‘feed contain gum’, ‘feed contain oxygenate’ and ‘feed contain rust’ were four main critical factors. Regarding these main critical factors, the direct equipment improvement and management methods were proposed and implemented to solve the fire heater tube leaked problem. The improvement benefits has reached
prior expectation.
