Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 專利研究所 === 104 === As the era of knowledge-based economy arrives, intellectual property has become an important strategic issue and people have started to manage IP issues. Although Taiwan has great achievement on R&D, manufacturing, financial accounting and business managing, but companies in Taiwan are still unfamiliar with IP managing. In this research, we try to find out how important Taiwan companies think IP is? What events will influence companies to devote IP manage? And what is the purpose to manage IP? Through the questions, we can understand what is the strategic intent of IP manage of Taiwan companies. In order to realize those questions we mention above, we chose "Interview Survey" as the research method. We conducted 4 semi-structured interviews with 55 firms from the electronic industry, chemical industry, machinery industry, biotechnological industry, agriculture and the cultural and creative industry. Based on the findings of 55 case studies, we discoverd that most firms do care about IP in the first place. They think IP gives them the right to protect their products and R&D results. However, many firms from the cultural and creative Industry take a negative attitude to IP manage. They think IP can't protect their products and design result. The second and third questions showed why firms start to manage IP and why they want to implement it.The first reason is that some firms had experienced intellectual property litigation and don't want to suffer losses again. The other reason is that some firms have accumulated many R&D results and wanted to protect it. Most of the firms manage IP passively. Intellectual property is still not a weapon for those firms, but few of them have the willing to attack other competitors in the future. The last question shows the status of authorize of the IP works. The Electronic industry has the highest authorization level and sequentially is the machinery, biotechnological and chemical industry. The agriculture and the cultural and creative industry have the lowest authorization level about IP working.
