| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 管理學院MBA === 104 === Logistics is one of important elements in the supply chain. Some firms have ability to operate logistics activities by themselves but some do not. Either some tasks are over their capacity to operate or companies does not possess in-house logistics, thus company requires to outsource logistics, so-called “Third Party Logistics” (3PL). Once companies decide to outsource a 3PL provider, the selection process becomes an essential step for a firm to choose its partner. The selection factors consequently are being crucial clues for decision-making step.
Diverse businesses obviously focus on different factors depending on what kinds of products and services they provide. This study employed the case study method by interview in aims of gaining the insight of the renewable energy resources company in Thailand “TSUS Excellent Co., LTD.” when logistics outsourcing is needed. The finding implies that several crucial factors affecting selection decision are quality of service, IT support, cost minimization and experience of 3PL providers.
While some still have impact but are not as important, for instance, price, special expertise, reputation and personal relationship.
