Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 戲劇學系表演藝術碩士班 === 104 === Due to the globalization in the modern time, those classic musicals mainly from U.K. and U.S.A. have been massively introduced to Taiwan recently, which influenced modern theatrical troupes in Taiwan to start creating musicals as well, developing its own distinctive but strongly experimental ones from imitating foreign works in the beginning of producing musical. “All Music Theatre” was initially a magazine publishing company under such circumstances; since its first musical launched in 2003, the troupe has been trying to produce music-led musicals with locally cultural materials, and shaping different styles from others. The musical, “Taiwan as a Young Man”, adapted from the homonymous literary work by Chiang Hsun, was launched by the troupe in the title of “Literary Musical” in 2013, which seemed to be meant to distinguish itself from traditional musicals. Furthermore, the form and content of the musical genuinely demonstrated the literariness of the original literary work, without any twists and turns in the plot and complicated relationship between figures. The research concludes the Post-modernity of the musical through Post-modernism aspect, and defines its form and content by the interdisciplinary perspective of Literature and Music, as well as the relationship of rules and forms between the lyrics and the songs. The musical was not an ordinary adaptation from a literary work, but the one kept its literariness by the way of narrative, and selecting those particular lyrics infused with intense literariness for singing. Through its uniqueness, the research is going to conclude, evaluate, and suggest the future way for Taiwanese musicals.
