Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣藝術大學 === 戲劇學系 === 104 === The variety of performing materials and styles of performing arts in Taiwan is getting wider and more innovate, which is also the same for chorus. In the past ten years, the type of so-colled “chorus theatre” has become a common way of choral performance, which involves a great deal of drama and theatrical elements. However, for such integration, the original concert performance of chorus faces a new challenge of dramatic change. While the crossover performance of performing arts has developed certain outcomes, the interdisciplinary academic study in chorus is still limited. Through analyzing the artistic essence of chorus and its development in Taiwan, as well as the integration of western aesthetics of drama, this study chose Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir’s A Love Story about Taipei & Shanghai as a case study to compare the differences between its “chorus theatre” and “chorus musical” versions. Then from the discussions of such comparison, this study aims to clarify the performing pattern of today’s chorus theatre, explore the challenges of the development of chorus, and finally, offer suggestions to the innovative potential in the performance of chorus in the future.
