The humor in the picture books of Miyanish Tatsuya is the research subject of this study. The study analyzes the humor caused by the intersection of image performance, narrative plot and image-text, probing into the humor which exists in the picture books of Miyanish Tatsuya and the esthetic constitution of narrative type of mingling images and texts. In addition, the paper analyzes perceptive way of humor which may be produced when the readers read these books. The study is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is about research motivation, purpose and question. The second chapter is to investigate the humor and the relevant studies. In the third chapter, the background, the source of inspiration and brief introduction on works of Miyanishi Tatsuya will be introduced. The fourth chapter analyzes the humor among the intersection of images, narrative techniques and image-text in the picture books. Studying on what kind of connotation and implied meaning of subject that the humor delivers will be shown in the fifth chapter. The last chapter is conclusion. The research concludes that in the aspect of visual images, Miyanishi Tatsuya shows the humor by multiple frame lines, dynamic lines, bright color, funny characters and special composition. In narration, Miyanishi utilizes the techniques of contrasting, repeating the mood, exaggeration, inversion and out of expectation. The significance and value of the humor in the picture books of Miyanish Tatsuya can be presented when the readers perceive humor and enjoy reading by listening and speaking. The humorous plots related to growing up can defuse the anxiety of growing up of readers. The subjects related to international relationship deliver the humor which can break down the wall of stereotypes.
