Based on the research objective, this study used interview, a kind of qualitative research, to explore the development of burnout of 5 teachers in Taitung County and summarizes the adjustment methods they adopt. Two conclusions have been drawn in this study. First, in terms of the development of burnout of teachers, the teachers in the case study encountered a gap between dream and reality; they also faced contradiction in work role due to concurrent positions and felt enormous workload and suffered severe physical and mental fatigue; parents and educational reform were also the factors that influenced the burnout of the teachers; they became deeply aware of the ordeals for teachers but failed to make a change. Through a further discussion, this study found that the career contents, career stage and subject of the teachers in the case study were the important factors that influenced their burnout; the teachers all agreed that region was also one of the main factors that constantly triggered burnout in career. This demonstrates that the teachers in the case study in Taitung have rich experience in this aspect and cannot work in an environment as favorable as that for the teachers in other counties and cities.Second, as for the methods of alleviating burnout, the teachers chose to religion healing, participate in leisure activities, relieve negative emotions, make good use of time, enhance professionalism, change attitude, hold rational expectation on work, and seek social support to reduce burnout.According to the research results, this study proposes suggestions for educational practice.
