This study conducted a questionnaire survey, enrolled students in junior high schools in Taitung County as the subjects, and use stratified sampling to select 732 students. This study used statistical methods, such as descriptive statistical analysis, independent sample t test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson product-moment correlation to perform statistical analyses on the data obtained. The main findings of this study are as follows: 1. The media more frequently used by students was mobile internet surfing. They used it mainly for entertainment purpose. Parents mainly imposed limitation on time of use, and occasionally accompanied them to discuss about it. The time of use on holidays was higher than that on weekdays. 2. The performance of media literacy was moderate and above. 3. Parents’ level of participation in female students’ use of mobile internet was significantly higher than that in male students’ use of it. The media literacy of female students was also superior to that of male ones. 4. Parents imposed fewer management limitations on students of higher grades. The longer the time of use of media, the better the students’ performance of media literacy. 5. The purpose of use of media by indigenous students was to make friends and chat with friends, and the proportion was higher than that of non-indigenous students. In addition, the performance of media literacy of non0indigenous students was superior. 6. The higher the educational background of parents, the stricter the management of students’ media use behavior and the higher the level of parents’ participation. The performance of media literacy of their children was also better. 7. The higher the socioeconomic status of family, the higher the level of parents’ participation and the better the performance of students’ media literacy. 8. The performance of medial literacy of students with better academic performance and higher parents’ participation in discussion was better. 9. There is a significantly positive correlation among socioeconomic status of family, students’ academic performance, time of use of media on holidays, and junior high school students’ media literacy. According to the research results, this study proposed various suggestions as reference for teachers, educational administrative authorities, parents and subsequent researchers.
