The major challenge we are facing is, current working model cannot provide enough sessions and in depth therapy as expected. Traditional professional collaborative model needs sufficient numbers of therapist to run the service, however, this is difficult to operate in marginal area due to long distance transportation and lack of therapist. This research aims to cultivate a new model to meet the needs of remote area. Direct Dual Intervenors Team Model is based on the current collaborative model, but develop it further in the attempt to seek for a better way of collaboration between difference professions. The actual operation process will be shared and discussed in this paper. The research methodology is based on action research. I would review the performance of an early childhood intervention professional team located in Eastern Taiwan, through regular monthly meetings and literature study, to reflect on the problems of role division and develop improvement program. Direct Dual Interveneors Team Model is based on three models, including Zwei-Personen-Modell from Germany, Trans- Disciplinary Model, and Collaboration Model. ECD( Early Childhood Development) teachers and social workers take the role as direct intervenors, and seek professional consultation from physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and other professionals when needed. ECD teachers deliver an intervention session one hour per week, mainly responsibility for execution treatment and education. Social worker is responsible for family support, provides home visit twice a month together with telephone interview. The frequency of therapist intervention service depends to individual needs, therapists are responsible for provide professional consultation and design suitable intervening activities. This research took place during March to August 2015, totally six months of study period. Data collection included records from meetings, reflection diary, service record and interviews. In this research, 8 out of 11 participants show positive result, which demonstrated this is an effective model to increase child’s performance under the conditional of low frequency and lack of in depth therapy. However there are still difficulties to be solve: Firstly, lack of sufficient professional staff in marginal area. Secondly, lack of recourses and unstable financial funding. Thirdly, the role of social worker needs to be clarified due to role overlap. The strategy of developing Direct Dual Intervenors Team Model is: 1) find the right person to get on board and maintain. 2) clearly defined roles and division, make team function enables. 3) set the meeting mechanism, and operating effectively. 4) train the teachers of ECD. 5) make therapist counseling structured.
