Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 兒童英語教育學系碩士班 === 104 === The main purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of teacher self-efficacy and effective teaching behavior of elementary school English teachers in Taipei City and to analyze the divergence between different variables of personal factors and teaching effectiveness. Moreover, this study attempted to further explore the correlation between teacher self-efficacy and effective teaching behavior.
There were 195 elementary school English teachers involved in this research. The data collected from the questionnaire was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson product- moment correlation coefficient. Based on the result of the analyzed data, conclusions are drawn as follows:
1. The overall situation of teacher self-efficacy and effective teaching behavior of elementary school English teachers in Taipei County were rated high middle level. The most positive effective teaching behavior was on the dimension of material presentation.
2. The teacher self-efficacy and effective teaching behavior of the elementary school teachers in Taipei City was significantly different in gender. Male teachers outperformed female teachers in teaching plan and preparation, and classroom management.
3. The effective teaching behavior of the elementary school teachers in Taipei City is significantly different in seniority and occupied position on the dimension of material presentation.
4. There was positive correlation between teacher self-efficacy and effective teaching behavior of the elementary school teachers in Taipei City.
