This study adopted a narrative research method, utilizing the personal experience of the researcher to explore the transformation of her leadership style as a primary school homeroom teacher. The data used in the study included personal growth, education experience, teaching notes, records of interviews between teachers and students, and records of parent-teacher communication. Data collection and analysis lasted three years, while the duration of the narrative encompassed the researcher’s entire life. The findings indicated that the researcher’s leadership style as a homeroom teacher during the various stages of her life was influenced by the following factors: (1) Early growth stages and school years. This was a period when corporal punishment was prevalent in schools as was the spoon-feeding style of learning. The focus of education seemed to be only on students making it to the next grade. Hence, as a new teacher, the researcher naturally adopted an authoritative teacher-centered classroom management style and attached great importance to students’ academic performance. (2) The relationship with her boyfriend (later on husband). The researcher began to discover differences in the way of interacting with others and in handling issues. After getting married, she experienced the positive energy of love and care from her husband’s family. (3) Encountering defeat while teaching. The researcher realized that her leadership style as a teacher required a few adjustments. (4) On becoming a mother. After she became a mother, she adopted a democratic style of parenting and established a close and trusting relationship with her child. Her leadership style as a teacher also became more positive and open. From the experience gained in these stages of her life, the researcher put forth a few suggestions to teacher training institutions and teachers from the perspective of a class leader. Teaching is an aspiration, not merely a job.
