Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 104 === The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of unicycle training on attention for students with intellectual disabilities. The three participants were students with intellectual disabilities and off-task behaviors. They were placed in self-contained special class in an elementary school in Taoyuan City. A single-subject research design of multiple baseline across-subjects designs was used. Experiment periods include baseline, intervention and retention phases. The independent variable of the research was unicycle training, and the dependent variable was the effect of the off-task behaviors in mandarin classes. A revised scale was used to record participants’ off-task behaviors. The data was analyzed mainly through visual analysis and C statistics was also used as an auxiliary analysis. The teachers’ and parents’ interview data were
evaluated for social validity. The results indicated that:
1. There are multimodal interventions to aimed at the off-task behaviors of students with intellectual disabilities, and using martial training as training program can indeed improve the off-task behaviors of students with intellectual disabilities.
2. The unicycle training can reduce the number of off-behaviors of the three participants, and there are different effects in method and materials of teaching of the teacher, but it can maintain the intervention effects until the maintain stage.
3. According to the social validity and the interview of the unicycle training, the unicycle training can promote the attention of the participants, it is also helpful for promoting the interpersonal relationships;confidence and the interests of
exercise .
The research findings offered implications for teaching unicycle training were addressed and suggestions for future studies were proposed.
