It has a significantly negative influence on the performance of ocean generator using diffused duct. The commercial code Fluent is used to investigate the flow field of diffused ducted ocean current generator at non-fully turbulent flow field in this paper. By using the different combination of the geometry of the duct and turbine pitch, the optimal power coefficient of the ocean current generator can be obtained.
According to the computational results, the flow field of the diffused duct will separate at trailing edge for non-fully turbulent flow if the diffused angle is too large. When the diffused ducted ocean current generator installed in the tunnel with wall effect, its power coefficient can be up to 1.297 for good combination of duct and turbine pitch.
