Instructors are professionals with expertise in instructional design knowledge. Therefore, it magnifies the importance of massive open online course (MOOC). This paper explores the practicality of MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) from a phenomenology point of view. In order to invesitgate the attractiveness of MOOC to the mass public, the paper focuses on the teaching experience of popular MOOC instructors that are chosen from judgemental sampling of the top rated instructors. There are two main objectives in this paper. The first objective outlines the essences of the instructors’ experience and the second objective investigates the meaning behind the essence. Studies have found out that teachers are required to understand and adopt MOOC teaching model. Further more, they need to develop their professional teaching characteristic in response to this model. The MOOC instructors’ teaching experience reflects MOOC’s macroscopic teaching objective. Moreover, learning to use zero variance teaching content and story line teaching material are the attractive factors for students’ involvement in MOOC. From the interview with MOOC instructors, the instructors’ experience presents five core significance. They are their friendly and amicable appeal, story- telling skill, macroscopic point of view, altruistic personality and learn-by-doing attitude. This study’s result will be able to provide MOOC instructors experiences which is inspiring and helpful in MOOC’s practice. It aids instructors in reflecting on their MOOC teaching practices. It is recommended to follow up with investigation of MOOC instructors’ experience in innovating their teachings on the MOOC platform. Chang, Chi-Cheng 張基成 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 79 zh-TW
