The contents integrate the elements of heroic adventures and affections, which attracts youngsters worldwide. Among those teenager fictions, Lois Lowry’s “The Giver Gathering Blue Messenger Son” has gotten great popularity among readers and recommendations from various books awards. This series of teenager fictions with rather long length has complicated characters, scenes and plots and Includes four works, “The Giver” , “Gathering Blue” , “The Messenger” and “ Son”.
The study object is “The giver gathering blue messenger son” and it studies the texts from the perspective of literature. The study is divided into six chapters. It first discusses Lois Lowry and her works and researches on the background of creating the texts and the writer’s creation motivation, and then it confirms the properties of contents. The contents are then carefully read, and the development of the story is analyzed, which is hoped to realize the meanings of theme conveyed from the texts. The following two chapters discusses the narrative techniques, the arrangement of plots, the characterization, the depicting of scenes; they analyze the characteristics of the writer’s writing skills. The conclusion sums up the literary value.
The study finds that the series of “The giver gathering blue messenger son” neither deliberately describes cunning struggle for power nor emphasizes high-tech fantasies; however, they attracts a lot of researchers due to the design of dystopian stories. In addition to the deep philosophical thoughts in the text, the extraordinary writing characteristics have higher literary value.
