Symbols derive from accumulating the cultural experiences that become one of the most effective way to disseminate messages. The transmission of animation is the story and continuous frames. As a medium of a story, visual symbols can be hidden into the scenes without impeding the development of story. Researcher discussed the relation between Paradigmatic and Syntagmatic, also analyzed the element of the animated creation in accordance with Saussure’s theory of sign which is composed of signifier and signified.
By way of analyzing the animated short film《Fuga》and picture book《Voices in the park》which rest on the conception of Paradigmatic and Syntagmatic. The message of visual symbol can be transferred by the roles, scenes or something is reiterated which is effectiveness. Researcher owing to this method to scheme the scene, role design and icon design in the animated short film《Two Halves》. The situation of the character or the prediction of the story could be hinted by the visual symbols which are transformed into hidden messages. According to the property of metonymy, it is the effective way to state the story’s theme.
