In addition, most primary and secondary students’ impressions on museum tours are stale and boring, limiting the potential of museum educaton to expand students’ perspectives and horizons. This study employs QR Codes along with the Wix web authoring tool to design an inquiry -based navigation system on the smartphone. Cooperative learning activities were applied to explore the museum's treasures like fossils. In our quasi-experiment, students in the experimantal group read detailed explanations on the exhibition and were asked to resolve the assigned problems actively. Students used their smartphones to read exhibition information and clues for group learning tasks. Quantitative survey and qualitative data (observations, interviews) provided evidence that, students in the inquiry-based, techology-supported experimental group demenstrated better learning and higher evaluation of qualitative study than the traditional navigation control group. To achieve higher learning goals, it is recommended that students open their eyes and minds when visiting the museum, become active observers and explorers during the tour, and trasform such attitudes and values into their civic literacy.
