碩士 === 國立臺南大學 === 音樂學系碩士班 === 104 === This study aims to investigate the “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” of Franz Liszt. Firstly the author tries to realize the creation motive of this article by discovering Franz Liszt’s background, piano music style, features and the development of the Hungarian music. Secondly, the music formal styles, tunes, rhythms, and background of the “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” are taken for music structural analysis. Furthermore, the tempo, dynamic, skillful passages, and pedaling are discussed hereby. In this study, the music structure of “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” of Franz Liszt is more distinctive from the rest of his “Hungarian Rhapsodies”. The structure of the “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” is not mainly based on the traditional Csardas Hungarian dance music in the tempo of slow(Lassan) and fast(Friska). The “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” of Franz Liszt is rich in personal unique compositional techniques. The structure is similar with Rondo form and it also combines with the elements of tunes from Hungarian peasant music and the rhythm. “Hungarian Rhapsody, No.5 ” of Franz Liszt is rich in exotic flair and his personal style by his unique compositional writing. The Hungarian Rhapsody is full of Hungarian music elements which shows Liszt’s passion for his motherland. From the aspect of technical skills, Liszt heavily uses the piano performance skills from the 19th Century. From this study, it helps us understand Liszt’s passion for Hungary, his musical syntax, and his piano performance skills.
