Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 語文教育學系碩博士班 === 104 === Recent national policy values cultural exchanges more and more and aims to promote immigrants’ children to learn their second native language. But the lack of vietnamese learning curriculum creates a great difficulty in implementing this policy. Therefore, this research focuses on the theory of children language learning, second language teaching, and learning material planning. I completed an action research project at Sunshine Elementary School by using an entry level vietnamese learning curriculum designed by myself. The result shows that this curriculum fits the American 21st century foreign languages teaching 5C principles. The content connects children’s real life, habits and teaches them the differences between Taiwanese and Vietnamese culture. It has dual functions of language learning and culture inheritance. The teaching method combines “playing and learning”, “strengthening interaction” and “media” to help students to learn Vietnamese under a relaxing and stress-free environment. After assessing the pre-course grades and post-course grades, it showed that a well-planned teaching curriculum, proper teaching methodology and teachers’ commitment to this pedagogy can enhance the learning outcome for children. But the differences between countries and cities, shorter class period and students of differing ages set the boundary of this research. To improve the outcome of Vietnamese learning for children, this research suggests longer teaching times and better curriculum planning should promote language learning and cultural inheritance cross-generational transfer. Also, use of the media to create a fun learning experience through observations of Vietnamese language cultural exchanges can be used to entice the audience and promote the desire for reater understanding of the Vietnamese language.
