Digital Natives born after 1980 and Digital Immigrants born before 1980.Due to the different growing background, their conception of world and the value are not the same. Anti-nuclear movement has taken place for more than 30 years, it is the one of the longest environmental movement. Divergent Political Factors cause different result of the issue. Digital Native and Digital Immigrant how to use media and technology in Anti-Nuclear Campaign, what kind the experience of the citizen participation when they get involved in Anti-Nuclear Campaign.
We use the qualitative research methods in depth interview way through this study. To understand how Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants get involved in anti-nuclear campaign by the viewpoint of using technology and media, and what kind of differences between Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants. The core research questions are: (1) The differences between Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants in using media and technology. (2) Why they concern about anti-nuclear campaign (3) How Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants get in the anti-nuclear movement? (4)What is the ideal citizen participation type of Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants?
Digital natives rely on new forms of technology and media, multitasking and jump reading often occur in their lives. Digital immigrants use print way in media and technology using. Most of Digital immigrants absorb information from traditional media. Nuclear disaster is the reason why digital native and digital immigrant concern about the nuclear safety. In recent anti-nuclear campaign, we can find that digital native use video or social media to interact with the issues, and digital immigrants discuss the issue and gather group with new form media and technology. The ideal type of citizen participation to the digital natives is the surrounding allowing various types of citizen participation, and the voting is not the only way for citizen participation. Digital immigrants believe that the ideal type of citizen participation is built with open, equal value. The government should take the responsibility to set up ideal citizen participation way for the public.
