Furthermore, less technical limitation for adopting ICT has hastened information exchange among enterprises, thereby creating a significant impact upon the business and operation models of each industry. In response to the effects brought about by the various ICT trends, an ever increasing number of enterprises are placing heavier emphasis on boosting their respective competitiveness through the employment of ICT. Small and medium enterprises (SME) comprise a significant part of Taiwan’s economic structure. In the development of Taiwan’s economy, these entities play very important roles. However, due to the distinct industrial traits of SMEs, and in the face of growing competition, determining how to utilize limited resources and apply ICT know-how to obtain a competitive edge has become a priority. This research aims to explore the factors that influence the intention of SMEs to adopt ICT from the perspective of information system adopted by these enterprises. Various theoretical models and literature were integrated to identify six factors: perceived environmental pressure, perceived feasibility, perceived ease of use, perceived characteristics of innovations, perceived usefulness, and adoption intention. This research targets SMEs with experience in utilizing information systems, through online survey and analysis. The results of this research are expected provide SMEs with comprehensive policy directions for the adoption of ICT, which is also the contribution of this research.
