The electrokinetic can be applied on both saturated and unsaturated subsurfaces. This study tested the movement of bromide ion in an aquifer under the influence of electrokinetic force. Four 2-inch monitoring wells (depths of about seven meters) and one 1-inch well were installed. Bromine salt was added to one well and then electrokinetic was applied. The results show that bromine ion appears in the monitor well one meter away from the injection well. Even though the direction of groundwater flow is perpendicular to the electrokinetic force, after applying the same operating conditions for twenty days, the concentration of bromine ion in the cathode wells is 50% higher than that in the anode. Therefore, it is concluded that electrokinetic still can enhance the movement of bromide ion even its movement direction is against the hydrological flow. Higher voltage or current results in the increase of bromine movement. It is suggested that transmission efficiently can be further improved by installing more wells or electrode rods. This study proves that electrokinetic enhances the movement of Bromine in an aquifer. Yeh. Kuei-Jyum 葉桂君 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 51 zh-TW
