Summary: | 博士 === 國立屏東科技大學 === 休閒運動健康系所 === 104 === Background: As technology increasingly progresses, computer settings are gradually increased and become more and more popular in families, companies and schools. Previous research showed that with the increased amount of time that people use computer, the occurrences of carpal tunnel syndrome are increased. Purpose: This object of this study was to design an assistive device to reduce the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Method: We used Flashforge Creator 3D printer to produce the prototype of this assistive device. Furthermore, the device was modified based on the results of questionnaire, which is filled out by 114 collegiate participants using convenience sampling. Afterward, a case study was employed to test how the modified device can impact on the kinematics of wrist joint for a patient with carpal tunnel syndrome. Results: This assistive device can decrease the level of pain resulted from carpal tunnel syndrome on wrist area. Also, it can reduce 12∘of wrist extension (without this assistive device the angle of wrist extension is 15∘; with this device, the angle is 3∘). Device Features: With special designed structure of assistive device, its height and width can be adjusted so as to change the angle of wrist joint as well as to reduce the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome.
