| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 教育行政研究所 === 104 === The study aims at understanding the positive effects, virtues, and possible difficulties of Moral and Character education conducted through Buddhism. The conclusion is based on the evidence from analyzing the implementation, current situations, difficulties, achievements, and influences of the Moral and Character education after implementing Three Acts of Goodness, Four Givings, and Five Precepts promoted by the Young Adults Division (YAD) under the Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions of Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) (BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions) which is set up by the venerable master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan (FGS). According to the findings, the study will provide some conclusions and suggestions to which all parents, teachers, and members of the public who are interested in teaching Moral and Character Education may refer. The study methods include documentaries and interviews of qualitative research. The participants in this study are divided into three types: first, five teachers who have been or are servicing in BLIA or BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions; second, four members from BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions; third, three students who attended activities held by BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions. On the basis of the research literature and results, the conclusions are as follows:
1. The positive effects generated from Moral and Character Education implemented through activities held by FGS or Buddhism:
(1) Buddhism can make Philosophy of Education and Character Education correct and perfect still further.
(2) Buddhism can assist people in understanding what karma is.
(3) Youngsters’ inward arousal can be incepted through the activities by FGS.
(4) Buddha is an outstanding model of moral conduct.
(5) Three Acts of Goodness, Four Givings, and Five Precepts involved in the positive Moral and Character Education benefit both the sponsors and the participants.
2. The solutions for the difficulties of implementing Moral and Character Education promoted by BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions:
(1) Multiple propagandas may change people’s “stereotypical impression” toward the monotony of Buddhism.
(2) Thinking highly of “Three Acts of Goodness” in Moral and Character Education can solve current “religious frame”.
(3) Courageously marching forward helps us break though the barrier of “being halting and confused”.
(4) Having more forethought may mend “inexperience”.
(5) Understanding business beforehand is an able to fight with “unfamiliarity”.
3. The embodiment of implementing Three Acts of Goodness, Four Gives, and Five Precepts to extend Moral and Character Education by BLIA-YAD, Chunghwa Regional Subdivisions:
(1) Music and Singing.
(2) Films.
(3) Group dynamics.
(4) Witnessing Personal Real-Life Stories.
(5) Offer exemplars: for people to follow the code of virtue.
(6) Creating environments for volunteer service.
(7) Sharing opinions with each other.
(8) To create innovative and lively articles.
Finally, the researcher synthesizes the results of the study and provides some solid suggestions for three fields: the domain public, FGS and further research.
