A Study on the Relationship between Social Support and Sense of Well-Being for the Elderly Welfare Institutions Residents in Pingtung

碩士 === 國立屏東大學 === 社會發展學系碩士班 === 104 === The propose of this study is to investigate the current situation of the elderly weldare institution residents’social support and sense of well-being,comparing the difference of the elderly weldare institution residents’social support and sense of well-being among their different backgrounds,the relationship between social support and sense of well-being,and whether social support could serve as a predictor of sense of well-being. The research adopts the method of questionnaire survey,and uses self-made “Questionnaire of the elderly weldare institution residents’social support and sense of well-being”which takes Pingting County elderly weldare institution residents as the subjects,and by stratifing clusersampling,there are 396 effective questionnaires returned.All the data received are analyzed by descriptive statistics, multiple response analysis,t-test,one-way ANOVA,Pearson product-moment correlation,multiple stepwise regression analysis etc.,and the conclusions as follows: 1.In Pingtung County,the elderly welfare institution residents have higher social support.In the systern, "instrumental support" and "information support" are higher，and "emotional support" is to a minimum. 2.In Pingtung County,the elderly welfare institution residents’ main sources of social support is "social worker or agency personnel"，and "children"is the second. 3.In Pingtung County,the elderly welfare institution residents have moderate sence of well-being. "Self-affirmation" are the highest score,and "life satisfaction" is minimum. 4.The factors of affecting sense of well-being on elderly welfare institution residents in Pingtung County is mainly "state of health",and followed by "institutional services." 5.In Pingtung County, the elderly welfare institution residents with "Female", "75-79 years", "religious" and "private sector" have higher social support. 6.In Pingtung County, the elderly welfare institution residents with "College education", "religious" and "good health conscious" have higher sense of well-being. 7.In Pingtung County, the elderly welfare institution residents have more social support,they will have more sense of well-being.And the elderly welfare institution residents have less social support,they will have lower sense of well-being. 8.In Pingtung County, the elderly welfare institution residents’ social support can effectively explain the sense of well-being,and "emotional support" to explain the highest rate. Finally, according to the findings, to make recommendations to government agencies, institutions, the elderly and future researchers.
