This study, based on a literature review, participant observation and in-depth interview, compares the spatial configuration arrangement of land after the relocation. The focus is on how the sense of place is developed and reestablished in a space configured by the government, and demonstrates the profound meaning of how local characters and interactions creating the new sense of place for the Hongmaogong community. The results indicated that approximately 10% of the total original Hongmaogong population has moved to the new community because of the prolonged resettlement process and multiple resettlement options. Hongmaogong people after the relocation were unable to leverage their skills in the fishery industry. While the religious groups surrounding the temples have dissipated and disappeared after the relocation, the new local religious group has gradually established. With concerns of the losing Hongmaogong feeling, the residents in the Hongmaogong community have planned to consolidate the scattered communities, culture, culture and creative industry, and roots seeking activities, etc. through practicing religious activities.
