Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 人力與知識管理研究所 === 105 === The objects this study aims to examine whether personality traits are related to attitudes about gossip and workplace gossip, and investigate the mediation effect of attitudes about gossip between personality and workplace gossip. The participants in the study consisted of 273 employees (age mean=38.56, SD=9.51) who work at a department of health in southern Taiwan. The instruments included the Mandala Model of Self Scale (MMSS), Chinese Attitudes towards Gossip Scale (C-ATG) and Chinese Workplace Gossip Scale (C-WG). This study used the ANCOVA to reduce error variance, such as gender, education, length of service, family relations, interpersonal relations, income and social desirability. Our findings illustrate that the MMSS had a significantly negative influence on Moral Value, and ATG had a significantly positive influence on negative workplace gossip. The results did not support that the ATG mediated the relationship between the MMSS and the WG. Finally, suggestions for the instruments and future researchers were provided.
