| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立高雄師範大學 === 美術學系 === 104 === In this paper I explore the city's ambivalence City is a complicated unit because it accommodates an excessive number of sounds. To contain so many diverse components, the enormous receptacle must generate a set of rules and regulations to collectively fulfill the ideals of dwelling.
Practically speaking, ideals and goals sometimes are so fanciful that the imagination is very likely to include stories off the track. Such “marvelous” stories inspired me to demonstrate a form of art independent from reality by the frozen image of time and space. The scenes generated by abstract thinking seem to be surreal; however, on second thought, they truly exist on the stage of life.
In the crystal transparent world created by me, space is solid; layers are the traces of time. The space and time are not positioned by standards; instead, they reinforce the momentary state independent from reality. City fed humans with rules and logical orders during their growing process. Nevertheless, when I observed city, I saw a continuously-swelling monster, soulless and formless, filled up by imaginary appearance.
So I began to reflect: the city in the implied unknown rules? Continued forward progress of the city is not really like we have imagined a better? For this reason I created another face on the city, crushing, absurd, an independent non-linear time and space to think, even if I think it must be seen, but you can always have your own choice.
