The students’ attitudes towards reading and analyzing how this correlated with their participation were examined. The survey group included 148 fifth and sixth grade students from Kaohsiung Municipal Ci-sian Elementary School. The descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient analysis were used to analyze the research data. The results showed that the student participation in “The I-Reading” Online Reading Certification System was satisfactory, with the female students showing better system recognition. It found that students who frequently accessed different books, had a large collection of books at home, and liked to read in their free time showed improvements in their attitudes towards reading. Students who had higher credits in this system demonstrated higher degree of system recognition. But there is no significant differences between the high and low credit groups in their attitudes towards reading,. Students who liked to watch TV or play computer games in their free time demonstrated poor attitudes towards reading and lower level of “The I-Reading” participation. Students’ attitudes towards reading were moderate positively correlated to their participation in “The I-Reading” Online Reading Certification System. From this study, we can infer that promoting the “The I-Reading” Online Reading Certification System in Kaohsiung City will have beneficial effects on students’ attitudes towards reading and vice versa.
