Our model is developed in the context of software-as-a-service (SaaS). Agility reflects a firm level ability to sense and swiftly respond to market. We draw on the resource-based view (RBV) to view alignment as capability development which is influenced by governance and influences agility. Alignment reflects the extent to which IT is aligned to support business plans and strategy and is conceptualized as strategic alignment and knowledge absorption. Governance reflects a firm’s control mechanism for decision making and process management and is characterized as the IT aspect and the application aspect. We examined the model through empirical data collected from 210 respondents. We used PLS, SPSS to test the proposed hypotheses. The results show that agility is influenced by alignment significantly, which in turn is affected by governance.
