He created a lot of great works in his life as a writer. Among his early works are some autobiographic works, such as "Shindo (1916.1)", "Oni no men (1916.5), and "Itansha no kanashimi (1917.1)." A shared feature of these autobiographic works is description of decadence of heroes. Why is there description of decadence of heroes in his early autobiographic literary works? Is this related to his anti-naturalism ideology? To figure out the answers, I made analyses from two aspects. One is the formation of Tanizaki Junichiro''s artistic perspective from his birth to his debut period. The other is an exploration into the artistic perspectives of the decadent heroes in the three autobiographic works. Conclusions drawn from the above two aspects are applied to the analysis of the artistic perspective in Tanizaki literature during this period. The relationship between Tanizaki literature and naturalism literature is further examined. According to the results of the analyses, it is found that "decadence" is an important element in Tanizaki literature during this period. Through manifestation of "decadence”, the release from "desire" and "sexual desire" as well as the importance of "sexual desire" to artistic creation is observed. This feature also reflects its distinction from the realistic and truthful qualities of naturalism literature. It can be supposed that Tanizaki Junichiro declared to naturalism authority in the Japanese literary world at that time through creation of similarity to "private novel" in naturalism that true art is literary works based on "instinctive desire of human being."
