Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育心理與諮商學系教育心理與諮商碩士在職專班 === 104 === Abstract The purposes of this study were to examine the relationships among parent career support, achievement motivation, and career self-concept for junior high school students, as well as the possible sex and grade differences. This research employed the questionnaires of “Parental Career Support Scale,” “Achievement Motivation Scale,” and “Career Self-Concept Scale”. A total of 447 effective samples from six of junior high schools in Taoyuan, Taiwan. The obtained data were analyzed by two -way MANOVAs, Pearson correlations, and canonical correlations. The main findings are as follow: 1.Females perceived greater psychological and behavioral supports from parents than males did, yet no sex difference was found in perceiving independent supports from parents. Seventh grade students perceived greater psychological supports from parents than ninth grade students did, yet no grade difference was found in perceiving behavioral and independent supports from parents. 2.No sex difference was found in both personal and social achievement motivations. Seventh grade students perceived greater social achievement motivations than ninth grade students did, yet no grade difference was found in perceiving personal achievement motivations. 3.No sex difference was found in career self-concepts of junior high school students. Yet, eighth grade students revealed lower career self-concepts than seventh and ninth grade students did. 4.Two significant path canonical correlations were located between parental career supports and achievement motivations. 5.One significant path canonical correlation was located between parental career supports and career self-concepts. 6.Two significant path canonical correlations were located between achievement motivations and achievement motivations. Based upon the results of the study, suggestions for career guidance, for parenting education and for further research were discussed and proposed.
