In the era of population aging, the mental health and life quality of senior can be evaluated and used as key indicators of the elderly well-being, which has received growing attention and became the focus of various research areas. After reviewing papers published in the last decades, the consequences show that most of the studies approach the issue of elderly well-being from a single perspective. The lack of integrated analysis may inevitably lead to inaccurate and incomplete assessment of the issue. To remedy such deficiencies, content analysis research based on TLC viewpoint was conducted through 161 journal papers on elderly well-being, which were sampled from the literatures published in Taiwan from 2002 to 2013. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Statistically, both the total number of the periodical papers published per year and the number of the related papers published in different TLC categories was growing steadily. 2. Among the all TLC categories, 'exercise' was ranked on top on account of the number of papers. In comparison, the categories such as 'diet and nutrition' and 'relaxation and stress management' were generally overlooked. 3. In the TLC category of exercise, most research papers discuss walking. Nevertheless, ball sports display a decisive proportion. 4. Watching TV remains the most popular recreational activity for the elderly people in the TLC category of 'recreation and enjoyable activities' since last three decades. 5. As to age-category, the number of the papers dealing with the target group aged 65 is ranked highest, while only one for centenarians. 6. Statistics and analyses confirm the mutual influence between eight TLC factors. Based on the research findings, constructive suggestions can be proposed for increasing the level of elderly well-being , for government's policy making, and for future studies. 碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 教育心理與諮商碩士學位在職進修專班 === 104 === Abstract
This study was aimed to analyze the journal articles on elderly well-being from the perspective of therapeutic lifestyle changes (TLC).
The results of this study were as follows:
