While one thing is transformed into something different from its originality, such alternation of meanings is the essential significance of creation. According to Ernst Cassirer, we feel in art not solely a kind of simplicity or single emotion feature, but the active process of life, the continuous fluctuation between extreme oppositions – joy and sorrow, hope and fear, exultation and despair.Creation of art is a process of refining, simplifying and purifying inner emotions – an action which transforms feelings into (formative) symbols. There are three kinds of transformation: material transformation, image transformation, and internalization of the resources of creativity. The true understanding of these experiences would then make them one’s own experiences that obtain their own meanings. The author applied self-learning and the life experiences of interacting with Eastern Taiwan to transform such journey traces and impassioned involvements into nutrients of creativity. With the learning curve of metal-working, the author presents visual transformation of the local land, and eventually expresses self-reflection and self-practice along the route of the local observation and creation journey.
