With a college background, she has previously worked as a music teacher in a mini primary school in the mountain. She has a very strong literary and musical accomplishment. She moved from the heart to the creation of many Taiwanese-based songs, elegant, subtle and natural to reveal sincere, fresh sound, so the songs have become poem.
Ji, Shu-Ling’s creative works include piano, gongs and drums, solo, duet as well as choral music. The thesis is divided into five chapters, which primarily focus upon her ten creative songs. The first chapter concerns motivation and objective research methods. The second chapter is a literature review, an overview of chorus development since the Taiwanese Restoration, and the contributions of Taiwanese composers after the lifting of martial law. The third chapter offers a brief biography and musical works of Ji, Shu-Ling. The fourth chapter is analysis of music and the discussion of conducting interpretations about the ten creative songs. Thus, we can use the results as a firm basis for the interpretation of the conductor by means of the creative background, analysis, music forms, and pronunciations. The fifth chapter is the conclusion and suggestions. In brief, each chapter focuses upon an integrated summary suggestions and sharing experiences with the aim to help the further development of Taiwanese choral music.
