However narcissistic behavior in the area of domestic research has not been explored. Highly narcissistic people believe in their work over their abilities and work in order to pursue the best interests(Griffin &Tversky,1992), their decision is easy to engage in high-risk. At the same time, Narcissistic makes people pursuit of power (Kernberg, 1975), That is, at the behavior surface, high narcissistic executives will want to reach the pinnacle of power to take autocratic leadership style. At the same time, because it is difficult to own their superior image conversion adventure into the organization, which led subordinate to have a poor sense of identity with supervisor;and lack of the flowed information from the leaders in decision-making and space of idea for self-expression, but also reduce job performance of employees. In addition, many leaders have had recalled all the advantages of public memory of the past era, Therefore, weather the interaction between narcissistic traits and nostalgia propensity will influence leadership behavior are the relationships needed to be discussed in this study.
This research bases on the all level of supervisors and their subordinates for 40 private bank branches in the northern region of Taiwan. After matching supervisor and subordinate samples, the total usable data are 51 supervisor and 247 subordinate questionnaires.
Empirical study finds: first, narcissism of supervisor is positively related to risk taking. Second, narcissism of supervisor is positively related to autocratic leadership. Third, risk taking is negative related to identification with supervisor. Fourth, autocratic leadership is negative related to job performance with subordinate. Fifth, The relationship between narcissism of supervisor and autocratic leadership is moderated by nostalgia propensity. Finally, I discuss implications, limitations and research directions for future research.
