碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 木質材料與設計學系研究所 === 104 === In the past, because of the advantages of manufacturing conditions and the rise of automatic production, the international furniture industry and the wooden furniture industry in Taiwan was world famous. Hence, Taiwan was called “the Kingdom of Furniture.” However, because of the raw materials, exchange rates, wages, and the international economic recession, the furniture industry in Taiwan has been suffered a great impact for years. The low-priced furniture market of Taiwan was replaced by Southeast Asia, mainland China, Vietnam, and other developing countries. Moreover, for the furniture market in Taiwan, the kinds of Nordic style furniture have recently seen as the top of the most expensive art works. The aims of this report are (1) to discuss if the human factors of imported furniture are well-designed to the people in Asia. (2) to define the proper size of human factors, which are useful for Taiwan residents while they are choosing furniture. In order to define the size, in the report, the literature reviews are studied, the body measurements of Taiwan residents are analyzed, and the furniture catalogs are referenced. In this report, the samples of imported chair are totally 100, and four kinds of chair are included: 32 armchairs, 20 high-back chairs, 32 dinning chairs, and 16 lounge chairs. Sizes of a seat-width, seat-height, seat-depth, chair- width, chair- height, chair- depth, and the chair-back tilt angles are analyzed. The statistics will be the basic data of studying the human factors in this report. According to the outcome of this report, the sizes of most imported furniture matches the human factors of the people in Asia, because the import and export industry sellers have investigated kinds of furniture to know what the clients need. Hence, the sellers are able to provide different furniture for different targets around the world.
