Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 應用歷史學系研究所 === 104 === Though being rarely seen in Taiwan, WuFengGong belief is one of the most important beliefs in FengShan region. Among all dedicated sites in FengShan, the celebration held in GuShanGong is the grandest WuFengGong ceremony. There are many meanings for the GuShanGong celebration, including united cooperation and affective connections among people. From the process of this celebration, FengShan inhabitants have motives of participation, impression of celebration, and spiritual sustenance, thus showing identity for GuShanGong and the place identity. Therefore, the affective connections in man-land relationship are the best subject to be observed the place identity.
The purpose of the study was to understand the place identity in FengShan region by showing the affection and meanings of the GuShanGong celebration from interviewees’ viewpoints. The data was collected and analyzed through in-depth interview and participant observation, based on qualitative research.
The result showed that participating the GuShanGong celebration can bring FengShan inhabitants and the place identity closer, regardless of spirit, affection, cultural identity, and cohesion. Every inhabitant holds different perception of FengShan village, such as a natural environment and local human warmth. Some inhabitants consider a transformation needs to be carried out in FengShan. Therefore, to reconstruct the splendor of FengShan and upgrade the value of FengShan, residents are willing to engage in community construction, such as adjusting the GuShanGong celebration, and implementing local cultural specialties. Finally, to provide much possibility for local community development, recommendation was provided based on research findings.
