Summary: | 碩士 === 國立嘉義大學 === 輔導與諮商學系研究所 === 104 === The purpose of this research is to explore the experience of father-and-son distant relationship of middle-aged fathers. This research emphasized the interaction of father-and-son. This research further investigated how middle-aged fathers in a strained relationship adjusted himself in social-cultural contexts. Furthermore, this study investigated how experience of father-and-son distant relationship of middle-aged fathers changed. This research explored experience of father-and-son distant relationship of middle-aged fathers based on hermeneutic phenomenological methodology. Thematic analysis was applied to achieve data integration and data analysis. Core concepts of the experience of father-and-son distant relationship of middle-aged fathers were extracted and summarized them to three common themes from contexts.
1. The interaction of father-and-son is superficial and distant. Hidden love and their constrained real emotions on their expression make middle-aged fathers feel more comfortable.
2. The middle-aged fathers are not fully responsible for their fatherhood. Adopting negative interaction strategies make the distant relationship get worse.
3. Lack of the interaction skills makes fixed interaction. Middle-aged fathers passively wait for father-and-son relationship getting better.
In the view of the research findings, the recommendations for counselors, parents, and future researches are provided.
