Some researchers argued that people were not born with confidence; confidence in oneself is built and raised through personal effort and experience of failure and success. Self-confidence is widely regarded as important factor to influence interaction people have with others. As a result, interpersonal relation can be affected by one’s self-confidence, too. When students have good interpersonal relation at school with peers, teachers, and others, the outcomes can be good academic performance, learning experience and, therefore, good preparation for later-on career choice. Some research also suggested that communication skill can be affected by confidence and can influence interpersonal relation. This study surveyed 250 undergraduate students and analyzed data using regression approach. The results are following: 1. Self-confidence has significant effect on communication skill. 2. Self-confidence has significant effect on career preparation. 3. Self-confidence has significant effect on interpersonal relation. 4. Communication skill has significant effect on career preparation. 5. Interpersonal relation has significant effect on career preparation. 6. The effect of self-confidence on career preparation is partially mediated through communication skill. 7. The effect of self-confidence on career preparation is partially mediated through interpersonal relation. 8. The effect of communication skill on career preparation is partially mediated through interpersonal relation. The implications and possible future research direction were also discussed.
