The purpose of this study was aimed to explore possibilities and difficulties with the theme topic of death through child-parent co-reading picture books. Results and experiences gained from of this study can be work as an example for parents who need to talk to their children about death. Researcher used six picture books as media for this research. A semi-structured interview with parent was applied for this study. All these procedures were audio taped and extended activities were also used for data collecting for this research. Conclusions were jumped as the following: 1. Results of the processing of parent-child co-reading. (1) Mother’ self-oriental language was affected by their personal accustoms. She will use both cognitive and emotional ways to guide her child’s concepts about death. (2) Mother will use different strategies to respond her child based on situations really happened. (3) Child’s self-oriental language was raised by illustrations and content of picture books. (4) Child’s use repeated languages and “don’t know” to respond questions mother asked. (5) Mother mainly used body languages and appearance manners and smiles as non-vocal languages. (6) Child mainly used body languages, point-graphics and voices as non-vocal languages. 2. Results of applying picture books with theme topics of death for children to reach the concept of death. (1) Child can reach the concept of that death is popular. (2) Child can reach the concept of the reasoning of death. (3) Child can reach the concept of non-organized of death. (4) Child can reach the concept of that death is irreversible. (5) Child can reach the concept of that death is not a physically extension. (6) Child can display sympathetic sad emotional of deaths. (7) Child can reach the concept of the value of life. 3. Results of process, parent’s feelings and difficulties of applying picture books with theme topics of death for child. (1) The interactions of parent-child’s co-reading with theme topics of death for children. (2) The difficulties of parent-child’s co-reading with theme topics of death for children. Suggestions were also made for parents, kindergartens, other educational institutions. 1. For parents (1) The processing of parent-children co-reading. (2) Through picture books to explore concepts of death. 2. For kindergarten and educational institutions. (1) Inducing the concepts of death into regular teaching activities.
