Methods: 36 male and 21 female junior tennis players aged from 14~18 were recruited to join this study. Each player was subjected to measurements of stature, weight and ball speeds of serve, forehand and backhand groundstroke by using a radar gun. The year-end ranking of each player were obtained from the Chinese Taipei Tennis Association. Data were analyzed by t-test, Spearman correlation and one-way ANOVA, and the significant level was set at 0.05. Results: Ball speed of serve, forehand, and backhand of the males was significant faster than the female. The ranking of the males were significantly correlated with the serve speed, body weight, height and age. The ranking of the females were significantly correlated with age. A further comparison of different age groups on ball speed revealed that no difference was found in male players, whereas the serve speed the female players of the 17-year group was significant faster than the 14 group. Conclusion: Ball speeds were related with ranking in male junior tennis players. The ranking was negatively correlated with the serve speed in males. The faster ball speed a player served or hit, the lower number of ranking a player reached. Moreover, it should be noted that ball speeds of different age groups were not different significantly in males. This would imply that the increase of ball speed in elder adolescent players was not enough. 蔡忠昌 2016 學位論文 ; thesis 55 zh-TW
