碩士 === 國立中央大學 === 財務金融學系在職專班 === 104 === The government has promoted proactively the internationalization of domestic financial industry recently, even relaxing lots of investment restrictions to improve the offshore competitiveness of Taiwan banking industry. In particular, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) called this policy as “Asian Cup” tournament. This thesis constructs a set of balanced panel data by integrating quarterly bilateral financial statement of offshore branches and parent companies in 22 domestic banks from Quarter 1, 2008 to quarter 2, 2015 and incorporates the degree of internationalization that is based on the Principal Components Analysis, as well as CAMELS evaluation index. We use the generalized method of moment (GMM) method to estimate the model. The research focus is the influence on the overall effectiveness of management in internationalization of Taiwan’s banking industry. The results show that internationalization does not improve the management effectiveness of parent banks. In contrast, the size of the bank positively relate to the bank's performance. It implies that if Taiwanese banks want to win in the “Asian Cup” tournament, regional financial institution, assets-expanding, and the adoption of strategic alliance could be helpful.
