It’s powerful, easy to use, and suitable to use as a personal digital sheet music displayer. This paper develops a score following system app, which is designed for piano scores. This system parses the MIDI messages received from the digital piano, and then uses these messages to trace the user’s performance and automatically turn pages in real-time. Today, there are types of page turning devices on the market, they are designed as pedals or a remote controller, and these devices can let the user turning pages by treading pedals or clicking buttons. There are also some apps that provides automatic page turning function by managing the timer of a programming language to simulate a metronome. We match the following two to trace user’s performance and implement real-time automatic page turning: coded musical notes in the MIDI file of a score and piano keys pressed by the user. Our method is entirely instantaneous on score following, and makes the user don’t need to distract to tread pedals, click buttons, or mentally compute the timer any more, thus, the user will be able to fully concentrate on the score. This system also provides automatic accompaniment function, in which a fault-tolerant mechanism is used to assist the user to self-learn the score or ensemble with people.
