This study analyzed the effects of internationalization and innovation on firm performance in the case of China manufacturing industry. Firms grow either by attracting new customers (internationalization), by developing new products (innovation), or by using mixed strategy. Internationalization and innovation are key drivers for corporate sustainability. Due to resource scarcity, company must properly allocate its resources to maintain competitive advantages.
This study focuses on China manufacturing firms to explore the relationship between internationalization, innovation on firm performance. Furthermore, the study employ panel data regression to test the hypotheses. The empirical evidence shows that the relationship between internationalization and firm performance is U-shaped and that innovation has significant impact on firms’ performance. However, result shows the interaction between internationalization and innovation has no effect on firm performance.
